5 Pieces of 7even

Ooh look.  More guilt free niceness.  This time from those kids at 7even.  5 tracks (surely it shoulda been 7 tracks) of bass heavy dopeness that deserves your attention.  gotta be worth the 1 minute it’ll take to enter your email address.  Doowit!

Classify under Goodness!

Not posted much in ages because a) i’m too busy b) I’m too lazy and c) no fucker reads this blog anyway.

However its quite obvious the interwizzle needs another pointless page of data clogging up its dataverse so who am i to argue.

And what better way to rejoin the world of pointless blogging than with another link to some tasty guilt free download goodness.

18 glasses of future electronic vintage for those dance music connoisseurs who prefer their music full bodied.  Crack open the bottle, pour yourself a large glass and indulge in some real underground music.

Like most things of any quality, some of it is an acquired taste, but with dance underground luminaries such as SBTRKT, Burial, KODE 9 and their contemporaries you should find something to your tastes.

Assuming your tastes are proper underground electronic beats.  And why wouldn’t they be.

Midland at it again

Midland should rename himself to Highland cos he is definately up there with the best DJ’s and dance producers around at the moment (sorry bad pun but it is Monday so work with me on this one).

Stumbled across another quality mix of his – a housey treat for all you lovers of things deep.  He starts early on in the mix with a cracking remix of the Bees, before cracking it up a notch beatwise.  Genius.  And the final track choice from Stubborn Heart to close the mix out is a perfect end to a great little selection.  Both can be checked out individually below along with some other highlihghts if you want a taster before downloading.

So come on (Tom*), get on the download and enjoy.

*Tom is the only one who reads my blog.  So I may as well refer to you in person mate.  ;o)

Pork Crackling

i love a bit of crackling – (ooh er missus and all that)  and a good piece of pork on a sunday for dinner is one of the greatest meals known to man.  Plus anyone whose been to a good hog roast will know the juicy pork baps (yes yes more inuendo) can’t be beat.

And so its fitting that some of my favourite music was created by the Pork Label.  Pork were without a doubt the undisbuted heavyweights of  downtempo goodness during the 90’s, and I spent many a night (and early morning) smoking myself into a haze with my partners in crime at the time (you know who you are), as the like of Fila Brazillia, Baby Mammoth,  the Solid Doctor and others played out on the speakers.

Without a doubt though it was Fila Brazillia who were the leaders of the Pork-meisters.  Cobby & McSherry tapped into something in their music – and the result was something very few have managed to replicate.  And i still rate them as one the best best remixers of all time (alongside Fourtet)

So last night I dug out some of Pork recordings tunes for a piggy themed meander down memory lane.  And like all great music it sounded as fresh now as it did the first time i heard it

So let your ears have some down time and hit play.

Day & Night

I’ve posted some of T-Ku’s beats before, and i’ll keep posting them as long as he keeps making them.

So here’s some more guilt free download goodness from the man himself.  Doowit!

Beastie Boys Back

So it didn’t take long did it.  Me getting lazy and not posting things.  What can I say…I’ve been busy and had better things to do with my time than write a blog no one reads anyway.  But sometimes circumstances mean even my laziness needs kicking to the kerb in disgust.
And the launch of the Beastie Boys new album, Hot Sauce Committte Pt2, is just such a reason for this metaphorical kicking.

Whilst I like the Beasties I’ve never been a die hard fan.  I could take or leave a lot of their stuff.  But this album is something different.  The production of the beats is quality, and compliments the distinctive sound and flow of the B-Boys.  For example Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament (my favourite on the album) is so dope that even Cheech & Chong would have trouble smoking it!  Heavy deep stuff and one to turn up loud.

And the whole thing is being streamed by the guys themselves.  So do your ears a favour and click play
